Saul Raisin, suffered a life threatening accident in April 2006 during a race in France. Saul has battled back from the odds and would like to take this opportunity to give back to the organizations that have helped and continue to help him recover. Saul came out to the Tour of California not to race but as a spectator and riding while Raisin Hope. He will be riding almost every stage before the riders come through.

My friend and teammate Rick rode the entire Stage 1 with Saul. The picture below is of them coming down the finishing straight. The other is of Teddy of GU Sports which is one of the sponsors of this amazing event.

I had followed Saul's cycling career since he was a local racer onto the European ranks and after meeting him and having the chance to speak with him prior to Stage 1, I must say that Saul is one very cool dude. He has inspired so many people across the world with is hope and determination to battle back from his injury.
